The unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day weekend, features two golf events as well as two days of open golf. The Holiday Day Better Ball tournament is Sunday, May 26, with tee times between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm noon. The cost is $10 per player, and the tournament features men’s and women’s divisions. The Scotch Foursome tournament, a 9-hole team event,  is scheduled for 4:30 pm Sunday. The cost is $40 per team and includes golf, food and prizes. The course is open for play all day Saturday, May 25 and Monday, May 27.

Bartlett Country Club hosts its annual MGA Pro-Am Tournament Monday, June 3^rd. The format is two of four best balls with 80% handicap. The tournament has a 12:00 pm (noon) shotgun start. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the United Way of Cattaraugus County.

Bartlett hosts the MGA/WGA Golf Bash this Saturday, May 11^th. The format is a 9 hole, ABCD scramble with a 1:30 pm shotgun start. Dinner and live entertainment follow golf.

Bartlett Country Club hosts its 2012 Member/Member Golf Tournament Sunday, October 7^th. The tournament features a shotgun start at 12:00 noon, which permits participants to finish prior to the 4:25 pm kick-off of the Bills/49ers football game. The tournament's format is one better ball of two with 90% handicap. There will be a men's and women's flight and, depending on interest, a couples flight. PGA Head Golf Professional Terry Stiltner adds that the "tournament is not a fundraiser. We want the [tournament] to be a great party with awesome prizes. Bartlett Country Club hosts the The Leo Keenan Invitational this weekend, Sunday and Monday, September 16 and 17. The Keenan is a 36-hole men's intercollegiate golf tournamen featuring teams from St. Bonaventure University, Niagara University, LaSalle University, Robert Morris University, Long Island University, Drexel University, Humber College and Ottawa University. Spectators are welcome to watch competitive collegiate golf.

Kyle Henzel and Eric McHone shot a scratch better ball score of 66 to win the 2012 Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament. Chris Blocher and Dave Suchora finished second with a 67. Frank Maduri and Mike Threehouse shot a better ball net 60 to win the handicap division, with Greg Edwards and Dave Finch finishing second, also with a 60. The winners were decided by a shootout. Kate Achter won the 2012 Bartlett Women's Club Championship with a two-day medal score of 78. Megan Stevenson finished second with an 88. The tournament was held over consecutive Wednesdays, August 15^th and 22^nd. Complete results are available here. 

Chris Blocher shot a 36-hole score of 137 to win the 2012 Bartlett Men's Club Championship. This is Blocher's second tournament win of the month: earlier he won his third consecutive SWNY/NWPA Amateur title.

Chris and Katie Blocher combined with Jeff and Renee Giardini to shoot a 48 to win the 2012 Bartlet Country Club Couples Member-Guest. Josh Stauffer (left) from Pine Acres won the 2012 Betty Bergreen Junior Championship by defeating Corey Haas from Wellsville Country Club 3&2 on Saturday, August 12^th, at the Bartlett Country Club. Stauffer was runnerup in the 2008, 2009, and 2011 Bergreen Championship.

Stauffer was the number one seed in this year's championship based on his 68.5 scoring average in the Penn-York Junior golf league qualifying events. Stauffer will be golfing for St. Bonaventure University next month. Haas was the number two seed in the Bergreen based on his 69.5 scoring average in the Penn-York. He will be golfing for St. John Fisher next month.

The top 4 seeds advanced to the semifinals of the Bergreen Junior Championship at the Bartlett Country Club on Thursday, August 9^th.  Number 1 seed Josh Stauffer from Pine Acres defeated Kyle Trietly from Birch Run 6&5.  Stauffer last week was recognized as the player of the year for his play in the WNY PGA Junior Tour this summer.  Number 2 seed Corey Haas from Wellsville Country Club defeated Wilson Lockwood from Moonbrook Country Club 3&2.  Corey is the defending Bergreen champion and last week won the WNY PGA Tour Championship firing rounds of 72 and 68 at Lancaster and Transit Valley Country Clubs, winning by 6 shots.

Bartlett Country Club holds its annual Couples Member-Member/Member-Guest Tournament Sunday, August 12^th. The tournament has a 10:00 am shotgun start and is followed by a BBQ buffet featuring chicken quarters, beef brisket, chef salad, potato salad, cole slaw, and New England style baked beans

Bartlett Country Club hosts the 2012 Betty Bergreen Junior Match Play Championship Wednesday through Sunday, August 8-12. The field of 16 junior golfers qualified for the championship based on their play in the 5 Penn York tournaments. Josh Stauffer from Bradford, PA is the number 1 seed with a 68.5 scoring average and will be golfing at St. Bonaventure in the fall. Josh was the runner-up in the 2008, 2009, and 2011 Bergreen Championships.

Bartlett hosts a Night Golf Tournament to benefit the Pool Fund on Friday, August 3^rd beginning at 8:45 pm. The format is a two-person scramble. Teams will play four holes, 4, 16, 17 and 18, and are permited four clubs. No woods are allowed: the longest club permitted is a hybrid.

Bartlett Country Club hosts the 76th  Southwestern New York - Northwest Pennsylvania Men's Amateur from Wednesday, August 1^st through Sunday, August 5^th. Defending champion Chris Blocher, a three-time winner of the tournament, leads a field of over 100 of the best golfers in the region.

Candy Johnsen and Kathy Taylor combined for a better ball score of 62 to win the 2012 Bartlett Country Club Ladies Member/Guest golf tournament. Sany Heister and Carolyn Shields finished second with a score of 64, and Brrenda Threehouse and Sue Martin combined for a 65 to finish third.

The Red Team defeated the Blue Team 12 1/2 to 8 1/2 to win the 2012 Bartlett Cup. Twenty-eight players were divided into two teams based on handicap, and teams of two representing the two teams played three nine hole matches using better ball, alternate shot and scramble formats.

Teams have been announced for for the 2012 Bartlett Cup. The event tees off at 9:30 am Sunday, July 22^nd. Players are asked to wear golf shirts of their team colors.

Night Golf scheduled for tonight, Friday, July 20^th, has been cancelled owing to rain. The event is rescheduled for Friday, August 3^rd, at 8:45 pm.

Bartlett hosts a Night Golf Tournament to benefit the Pool Fund on Friday, July 20^th beginning at 8:45 pm. The format is a two-person scramble. Teams will play four holes, 4, 16, 17 and 18, and are permited three clubs. No woods are allowed: the longest club permitted is a hybrid. For safety reasons the tournament is limited to walkers: no golf cars are not allowed.

The third annual Bartlett Cup will be held Sunday, July 22^nd. Thirty-two Bartlett MGA members will form two teams that compete in Ryder Cup formats, including better ball, alternate shot, and scramble.

Jerry Cummins from J & D Scuba Diving in Allegany will offer scuba and snorkeling lessons to Bartlett members. Scuba lessons will be held July 18^th, and snorkeling lessons on August 1^st, 8^th and 10^th. Space is limited, so please make sure to sign up soon.

The Bartlett Country Club golf course is open for golf Tuesday, July 10^th, until 5:00 pm. The Ladies Wednesday Night League are playing the back nine with a shotgun start. The course is closed Wednesday, July 11^th, for the Cathy Young tournament, which has a 12:00 noon shotgun start.

Bartlett Country Club hosts its annual Junior Golf Program from Friday, July 13^th through Friday, August 24^th. The program focuses on game improvement for all levels of junior golfers and is directed by PGA Head Golf Professional Terry Stiltner. Lessons, which are held on Fridays, range from putting and chipping, woods, and irons and include two rounds of competivie golf. The Bartlett swimming pool will close at 4:50 pm for Tri-County Swim League meets on July 12^th, 17^th and 19^th. The Bartlett Swim Team invites members and guests to stop by and cheer them on against teams from Smethport and Port Allegheny.

Bartlett hosted its first Tri-County swim meet Thursday, July 5^th against the team from Bradford. Coach Sean McNamee reports that the meet was "a tremendous success and the kids represented BCC" very well.

Brian Jurkiewicz, a junior golf member of Bartlett Country Club, qualified for the 2012 Porter Cup on Monday, June 25^th  The qualifier was at Niagara Falls Country Club.  Out of a field of 90 players he secured one of 8 spots with a score of 70 (35,35) T4th place.  The Porter Cup is July 18^th - 21^st.

Bartlett Country Club hosts its annual Fourth of July Better Ball Holiday Tournament and a Couples Scoth Foursome Tournament on Wednesday, July 4^th. The Better Ball Tournament has handicap, scratch and a ladies division. Make your own tee time between 8:00 am and 12:30 pm. The Couples Scotch Foursome is a nine hole tournament with an alternate shot format. It has a shotgun start at 4:30 pm.

Bartlett Country Club hosts the annual Men's Golf Association 2012 Member/Guest Tournament Thursday through Saturday, July 5 - 7. The tournament has a match play format: two man teams are flighted by handicap and play three nine-hole matches Friday and two Saturday to determine the flight winners. Flight winners compete in a Winner's Shootout to determine the overall champion.

Sean McNamee, head swimming coach at St. Bonaventure University and a Bartlett member, attended the Tri-County Swim League organizational meeting in Smethport to learn what it will take to have Bartlett form a youth swimming team and participate in the league this summer. The league provides a healthy activity for children and a chance for parents and others to share time with kids by supporting the team. Examine the details that follow. The Bartlett Country Club Pool is set to open Friday, June 15^th, at 12:00 noon. The opening was delayed owing to major repairs to the pool. But the work is done and the water is ready for fun. The pool is open weekdays from 12:00 – 8:00 pm and from 12:00 – 9:00 pm on weekends.

The deadline for signing up for the Men's Golf Association Two-Man Better Ball tournament has been extended for one week. The tournament format is single elimination match play that continues throughout the summer. Teams schedule matches within a published time frame, with the winner advancing to the next round.

Bartlett Country Club hosts its annual Western New York PGA Pro/Am Monday, June 4^th. The event offers Bartlett members a chance to play with PGA professionals from courses throughout the region.

Head PGA Professional Terry Stiltner and the Men's Golf Association Board released the 2012 Bartlett Men's Golf Association schedule. The season kicks off with a two-man better ball event Thursday, April 19^th, and ends with the scratch steeple chase Saturday, October 6^th. The schedule includes monthly guest days in which invited guests may play in MGA events, the traditional Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day better ball tournaments, the Western New York PGA pro-am (June 11^th), and the Bartlett Member-Guest tournament July 6^th and 7^th.

Bartlett Country Club hosts a Easter Sunday Brunch April 8^th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The buffet features fresh fruit, breakfast potatoes, French toast with maple syrup, sausage links, bacon, an omlet station with peppers, onions, diced tomatoes, mushrooms, scallions, cheddar cheese, and feta cheese, scrambled eggs, lobster macaroni and cheese, Greek chicken, saffron rice, red bliss potatoes, Italian broiled haddock, Steak Diane with Roberts Sauce, Buffalo chicken tenders with blue cheese, sweet corn, asparagus, penne pasta with marinara sauce, carved pit-smoked ham, assorted desserts, and coffee, tea, and assorted juices.

Bartlett Country Club switches to summer hours effective Monday, March 26^th.

Board Certified Licensed Massage Therapists Jennifer Kwaitkowski-Herzog LMT, Elaine Haid LMT and Audrey Rockefeller LMT will be at Bartlett offering members Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Hot Stone Massage on Monday, March 26^th.

Grilled ahi tuna, veal saltimboca and chicken roulade headline the featured items on Bartlett Country Club's menu this Friday, March 23^rd. Plan on joining us for dinner.

PGA Head Professional Terry Stiltner annouced that there will be a game Thursday, March 22^nd. The format is two-man better ball with 100% handicap. We will play winter rules with closest to pin on holes #3 and 5 and closest to the pin second shot on 9. The termperature will be in the 70's, so it is a great day to open the golf season.

Bartlett Country Club's Executive Chef, Tim Brushingham, hosts a cooking class and dinner on Thursday, March 22^nd, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This opportunity for members to learn from one of the region's most talented chefs is by reservation only, and reservations must be made by Sunday, March 18^th. Bartlett members are invited to cheer on the Bonnies in the Grille Room Friday, March 16^th, at 2:45 pm, as 14th seeded and Atlantic 10 tournament champion St. Bonaventure takes on 3rd seeded Florida State in the "Big Dance," the NCAA  Basketball Tournament.

Bartlett's Women's Golf Association holds its 2nd Annual Chinese Auction on Friday, March 9^th. Proceeds from last year's acution funded major improvements to the ladies' locker room.  This year, the WGA board has chosen to use auction proceeds to make improvements to Bartlett's pool.

Raffle tickets for three separate raffles that will be held Friday, March 9^th, at the WGA Chinese Auction are available to members who are unable to attend Friday night's WGA Chinese Auction. The three raffles are for an iPad 2, a $500 Shopping Spree, and a Tiffany necklace and designer sunglasses. Please email Megan Stevenson indicating the raffle for which you would like a ticket. Tickets are $20 each.

Yuengs & Wings returns to Bartlett Thursday, February 23^rd, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The event, sponsored by Certo Brothers Distributing Company, features food and drink specials, prizes and give-aways, and 55¢ wings.

Bartlett Country Club holds its annual Seafood Extravaganza on Saturday, February 25th. This year's theme is Bartlett Country Club on Gilligan's Island, and prizes will be awarded for the members best dressed in the spirit of the theme.

The buffet includes sushi rolls, grilled mahi mahi, raw clams and oysters in addition to traditional favorites such as seafood gumbo and New England clam chowder. Check out the event flyer for a complete list of buffet items.

The event will start at 6:00 p.m., and the $65.00 per person price includes an open bar, dinner, tax and gratuity, and live music by R.J. Pauley. Anyone in costume will receive a $5.00 discount.

The Mark Schmidt Radio Show will broadcast live from Bartlett Country Club this month on Mondays, February 13^th, 20^th and 27^th, starting at 7:30 p.m. The clubhouse Grille Room will open to members and the public at 6:30 p.m. During the show Bonnies fans will get all the latest team news and information while enjoying food and drink specials. Hosted by Gary Nease, the 30-minute program features news and updates on the Bonnies basketball season. Fans can listen live over the internet via GameCentral or on the radio at 95.7 WPIG-FM

Bartlett Country club hosted an incredible gourmet event Saturday, January 21^st, its first wine-pairing dinner. The quality of the dinner courses and the dinner’s presentation were on a par with the best restaurants in Buffalo (Oliver’s, Sinatra’s), New Orleans (Tujaque’s), and New York City that my wife and I have visited. Bartlett has a true gem in Executive Chef Tim Brushingham, and the event allowed him to demonstrate his broad array of culinary skills.
