The 2009 Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament and festivities will take center stage at Bartlett Country Club this weekend. Friday afternoon, September 11th, features a nine hole scramble starting at 1:00 pm followed by a 6:00 pm Cocktail Party on the Patio for all Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament participants, their, guests, and Bartlett Country Club Members. The Tournament tees off Saturday, September 12th, at 11:00 am.
The Higgins Tournament resumes on of the area's most competitive golf tournaments. The original Higgins Tournament ran from 1972 - 1979 as a two-man scratch better ball tournament. It was resumed in 2004 by Frank Higgins IV to honor the memory of his father, the late Frank Higgins, III. Handicap and Womens divisions were added.
One hundred and forty-four players will compete in the 2009 edition of the Tournament.
Frank Higgins III was an accomplished golfer and supporter of area golf. His son continues this tradition by supporting Bartlett Country Club Tree Program, contributing to area amateur golf programs, and resuming the Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament.
